Into The Woods -the Broadway show is now a Disney family movie. A couple of us here at Little Light got to see the show a bit early, and I was excited to share my thoughts on the show, and the inspiring visuals that came with it.

It reminded me of the Broadway musical Wicked in that the music plays a key part in the story. Both stories take on a classic fairy tale or story and adds to it with its own twists and realistic quirks.
There were some funny moments where the princes acted silly (Agony!). While my mom hated this part of the movie, I loved it. I feel like if I would see a trailer showing that clip I would see the movie for sure. Well I found the movie entertaining and magical, Into The Woods will have a hard time finding the right audience. It was too musical and not enough action for my husband to enjoy and too dark and brooding for my children to enjoy. I think it will end up being a movie that does better in DVD and become a mom’s favorite movie to cuddle up to alone.
If you go in with the expectation of a musical you won’t be disappointed and will actually rather be thrilled. If you’re expecting a typical movie you will be disappointed.
And I want blue hair like Meryl Streep. An elaborate costume, but it would be stunning!

I loved a lot of the same things you did!
I think it might do well with a musically inclined teen/tween audience. Music, drama, beauty and funny romance!
And I totally want blue hair now
