10 Gifts Your Teen Wants for Christmas

As a mother of a tween and someone who teaches and works with teens, I know they can be tricky to buy gifts for.  However, you don’t have to spend hours walking the mall only to leave with a lame graphic tee they will wear once.  I have 10 fantastic gift ideas your teen wants for Christmas!

1.  Nice Headphones

knockoutWith all the emotions and moods flying over the place, a lot of teens go to music to express themselves.  Often their choice of music might not be your choice, so I don’t think I will have a hard time selling you on the idea of headphones for Christmas.  If you have a sporty teen at home, invest in some Yurbud earbuds.  They will stay in the ear comfortably so your teen won’t waste precious jogging time putting those dang earphones in again.  If you have a music enthusiast on your hands, they will go gaga for over the ear headphones.  Skull Candy is notorious for having incredible headphones and for good reason.  They completely block out any outside noise and provide the ultimate listening experience.  I love these floral ones from Skull Candy and your girly girl will too.

2.  Gaming Stuff

If you are anything like me, you think that technology changes so fast it gives you whiplash!  How do you keep up?  Well, first of all, pay attention to your kids.  If they are gamers and want for Christmas, they will surely tell you.  Liked by boys and girls equally, gaming is no longer just sit and veg type games we remember as kids.  Many now invite the player to get up and move!  However, if your gamer wants the sit and veg experience, there is plenty of those too.

3.  Jewelry

What girl doesn’t want jewelry in her stocking this year?  If you have a responsible teen on your hand, they might be ready for some real stuff.  Think Pearl Stud Earrings, dainty necklaces, simple rings.  You don’t have to spend a ton, but they will love having a piece of nice jewelry to wear on special occasions.  If you opt to give costume jewelry, they will love it too!  Target has a beautiful line of jewelry and so does .  Jewelry isn’t just for girls though.  A sports player might love to have his jersey number hanging off a silver chain necklace.  Think small, and classy on the chain though.

4.  Stuff to Trick out their Car

Oh, their first taste of independence comes with a car.  Often not the nicest car out there, teens still love their mode of transportation and would love !  Steering wheel covers, seat belt covers, chair covers, air fresheners, cute decals, nice windshield wipers, and cute bobble heads for the dashboard are just a few ideas.

5.  New Clothes

The totally predictable yet most perfect gift you can give is clothing.  Your tween and/or teen is wanting to take better care of their appearance and clothing can go a long way in helping them feel confident.  Personally, I love that the logo era is coming to a close and kids think it’s cool to thrift shop.  Undoubtedly your teen has their eye on a pricier piece they could never afford themselves and would make a perfect Christmas gift.  They will be so excited to open up that leather jacket they have been dying over.  If your teen has grown 3 inches since school started and is need of a wardrobe overhaul, skip the pricier pieces and give your teen a haul from less expensive stores like Forever 21, H & M, and TJ Maxx.

6.  Experiences

Does your teen like to snowboard?  Do they want to learn to cook?  Inspiring Van Gogh?  Give them the experience!  The best part is that giving experiences gives them something to look forward to.  Christmas comes in a hurry and leaves in a flash and knowing you have something new and fun coming just prolongs that excitement. Think outside the box.  Concert tickets, movie tickets, snowboarding passes, art classes, and swimming pool punch cards are just a few ideas.

7.  Sports Equipment

If you have a sports enthusiast at home, what better gift to give than a team jersey?  They will love wearing it on game day in support of their team and showing others pride in the team they love.  A different idea is to give your own little sporty teen equipment they could use for the sports they are involved in.  A swimmer might be in need of a to wear when getting out of the pool.  Your ballerina might love some to wear when warming up.  The baseballer could use a new or glove.  You get the idea.

8. Pandora or Sirius XM Subscription

Who doesn’t love music?  It’s quite possible teens couldn’t live without it so why not give them a subscription to Pandora or Sirius XM radio?  A 6 month subscription to Pandora is only $30 and gives them unlimited, ad free listening.  If your teen has XM radio capabilities in their car, you can get them a subscription for only $10 a month for 80 channels!  It’s the gift that keeps on giving.

9.  Books

Most teens have to read books for school and some might love to read just because.  Why not give them a of their favorite books?  You could also give them gift cards for their or other devices.  Another great idea is to ask their friends for book recommendations.  Your teen will love opening up a book they are excited to read!  And what better way to spend Christmas break form school than curled up by the fireplace reading a new book?

10.  Gift Cards

If all else fails and you still need another idea, there is always gift cards.  Teens would love a gift card to a nice restaurant where they could go eat with their friends or take a date.  If you want to give your teen clothing but don’t know their style, you can give them a gift card to their favorite store.

This year, don’t go postal trying to find the perfect gift for your finicky teen.  These 10 gifts your teens wants for Christmas are sure to be a hit!
