What I Am Listening To #HeartOnMySleeve

I was working late at night – the optimal time for sleeping children, quiet houses, and I can check things off my to-do list with a speed.  I don’t often get to listen to my own choices of music in the car anymore (hello DVD player in the mini van – I blame you).  I realized I had no idea what was going on in music land.  So I searched.  In Canada we aren’t able to access pandora, but I discovered some options.  Rdio.com and Songza both have play lists you can choose from based on your mood or favorite artist / song / genre.  Quite awesome.

Here is what I am listening to right now.

You & Me – Rose Ave

Remember P!nk? Yeah, Pink – real name Alecia Moore was hanging out with her old friend Dallas Green from City and Color and started writing songs.  The talent in that duo amazes me.  I have always liked Pink’s songs and her voice is amazing, but You & Me showcases her range of vocal talent and song writing skills.  Their voices blend well, and I hope they “hang out” to make another album soon.  Check out tracks  You & me, Capsized, and Open Door.

Mary Lambert – Heart On My Sleeve

Mary Lambert shot to “quasi stardom” (her words) for writing and singing the hook line to Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ marriage equality anthem “Same Love.”  I love singer songwriters, and I love her goals for her work.  They were to: 1. Have fun. 2. Create something catchy. 3. Create something that positively impacts the world. 4. Stay true to yourself. 5. Make money.  And like a typical woman, she feels bad!  But her wanting to buy her mom a house is a dream we all wish we could do! Her album  is a must hear.  Listen to her cover of Jessie’s Girl, the first track Secrets, and So Far Away.

We all know Shake It Off – but the new album is going to be awesome!  For all the haters, just let me enjoy!  I have all of Tay tay’s albums and I plan on continuing that trend.  Haters gonna hate!
