5 Ways to Style a Leather Skirt

I kind of love that every season has it’s own classic wardrobe.  How can you not think of fall when the words plaid and flannel pop into your mind?  It just simplifies everything.  I like to have a wardrobe full of classic staples for each season and update it with a few trendy pieces that I deem worthy.  This fall, that trendy piece is the leather skirt.

I love the juxtaposition of hard and masculine with flirty and feminine, and nothing does this better than the leather skirt.   And the best thing about a leather skirt is its versatility.  Though you can find real leather skirts, I opted for a faux leather one.  When you grow out of clothing every year, it seems frivolous to spend more than $50 on an item.  Unless it’s a coat.

I have a rule that if I want to buy an item, it must be able to be worn 3 different ways.  Why spend your money on something that you won’t get much wear out of?  So, when I decided to buy this faux leather skirt, I threw open my closet doors and grabbed anything that might look good with it.  Here are 5 ways I styled my faux leather skirt with items I already had in my closet.

Flirty and Feminine.

As mentioned previously, I love paring masculine and feminine pieces together and this fuzzy pink ballet wrap sweater was perfect when paired with the leather skirt.  Some simple ballet flats and a long pearl necklace completed the look.

The Everyday.

I wanted to try the skirt with a simple white tee and jean jacket.  I added a pendant necklace and my trusty old chambray sandals.  It took the skirt from edgy to casual.

90’s Throwback.

Of course I had to try the skirt with the 90s throwback look that’s popular right now.  My thrifted buffalo plaid and lace up combat boots made this skirt look super edgy.

The Girl Next Door.

An artistic graphic tee was upped the coolness factor by doing the sloppy tuck into the leather skirt.  Some large black sunglasses and simple ballet flats completed the look.

The I Woke Up Like This

I saw this look on Pinterest and thought I would give it a try.  A simple sweatshirt or sweater with tennis shoes or loafers give the leather skirt a “I look good all the time without even trying” look.

I have even more ideas for this skirt!  A peter pan collared shirt with a statement necklace?  SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!  This skirt will be getting plenty of wear this fall.  Oh leather, please never go out of style.

XOXO,
