The Little Girl Who Lost Her Name

Slow Mornings

Have you ever had one of the of those mornings that seems to go on forever? Most of my mornings are jam-packed with getting two girls ready and out the door, then dropping one off at kindergarten and the other one at her Ammie’s house so I can go back home and get some work done. But on Sunday morning, we usually get to be a little more relaxed. On Sundays,  like this last one, when the girls wake up at 5AM (something I DO NOT condone), we have LOTS of spare time to fill before church starts at 11.

It’s hard to not get a little stir-crazy during these mornings. I had the girls fed, dressed, and ready (except for hair…) by 7am.

The Backup Plan

Luckily,  this particular Sunday I had a backup plan. I had ordered these special books awhile back and had just been waiting for the right moment to pull them out.

From the front, they look the same.

Front covers

And they even start the same:

First Pages

But then something is different! The next pages don’t have the same words, or picture, or even the same Letter!

different pages

The girls were in awe! What was happening? Why weren’t they the same?

Eisley surprised

They worked their way through the story, figuring out what letters the little girl was putting together to find her lost name.  Then they got to the end just to find out the little girl’s name was their name!

The Little Girl Who Lost Her Name

Eisley couldn’t believe it. She felt like she had just gone on a great adventure! It was so fun sitting and reading with them, and seeing their surprise every time I turned a page. They also loved when they both found the “Y” pages in their books. They both had Y’s, but not in the same place!

Same Letter

If you want to order your own personalized book you can check them out here. They let you preview the whole thing to make sure they spelled your child’s name right, and they have a girl version, or a boy version (And they shipped so fast). Even after I was done reading, they sat there flipping through pages and looking at pictures. And the best part? We carved a half-hour of quality time out of our long expanse of a morning. And it was spent reading! Mom win!
