Back To School – Cool for Kids *Girls 8-10yrs

Have Fun

Girls 8-10ys

I can still be cool, right? At least while my kiddos are 8, 10 & 10.
Arguably my daughter has other opinions, ALREADY, but what evs.
What it really comes down to is finding items that you can both agree on. As a mom, I want a lot of value for my $$. That means clothes that won’t wear out or break down after a few washes. I also like a lot of colour, which luckily my kids mostly agree on.
My husband also gets his opinions into the mix. He is very outdoorsy, so he wants the kids to have clothes they can use for hiking/camping and often layering for a range of weather conditions.

Oh yes, the weather…
Not only do our clothes need to be durable and affordable, but also extremely versatile! Again, that often equates to layering options. Especially in the spring or fall when it can start out one temperature and change 10 or 20 degrees throughout the day. It’s not always easy to anticipate what you’ll need to wear.

And finally, we always have to consider what is ‘cool for kids’. Hahaa. My daughter and I probably have the biggest differences of opinion here. She often prefers to dress and pick out clothing that is not exactly  ‘age or otherwise appropriate’ in my books. Think anything too short!
I am more lenient for gymnastics or dance class where athletic wear is the norm, but there are mornings where we have argued about what to wear to school. I think I am actually quite accepting of my kids choices most of the time. I like them to have some freedom to express themselves ie. do those colors really match in your mind??
And maybe take a few photos to remind them later 😉

Here are a few of our favourite back to school choices:
