In our house we are all about love, especially hugs and kisses. I thought it would only be fitting to make this cute XO Valentine’s craft to incorporate in this years Valentines. I love using texture and mixing patterns and must say I am thrilled with the way this project turned out!
For this project you need paper mache letters you can find at local craft stores, some paint (I used red and pink), yarn (I used an off white) and a pencil. Here we go!
To begin, I painted the X a bright red color.
When dry, I pulled out some light pink paint and with the tip of a pencil, I made two dots and pulled them down into a V to make a heart. I continued to paint hearts all over it.
With the O I wanted to use a lot of texture. I had some off white yarn laying around and knew that that would be the perfect way to add layers to this project. I wrapped it with yarn and this is how it turned out. Sorry I didn’t take a picture of that, it’s pretty self explanatory. Start in one area, tie it in a knot to hold in place, and just keep wrapping until you are done, then tie another knot. Easy peasy right?
Ta-da! Here’s how it turned out!
Now to add some color! I used the red paint from the X and the end of the pencil and started stamping away. I would dip the eraser in the paint and then stamp it on a piece of paper to get the excess off and then stamp the yarn. I just created a pattern as I went along.
Here’s how they look together. So cute! Who knew you could work such wonders with paint, a pencil and some yarn! Happy Valentine’s Day!
