Windy Winter Appisode #WindyHoliday

Entertain The Kids

Our family just went on a spur of the moment trip to Mexico. We decided on Monday and flew out on Wednesday.  While the packing was easy, the only part of the preparations I was worried about was the entertainment.  A five hour plane ride with a five year old and twin 3 year olds warrants for some desperate need for entertainment.  While I know they will be having a lot of screen time, I want to watch something that will encourage creative play after the show.  A few friends have told me about Windy & Friends and lucky for me a new Holiday appisode was released right before our trip!

Windy Winter Appisode

Windy started as a popular series of children’s books by Vancouver-based Emily Carr grads Judith Steedman and Robin Mitchell Cranfield. The Windy and Friends app is a series of interactive stories for the PreK set. The unique thing about Windy and Friends is that there is always a craft or activity following the “appisode” to encourage kids to put down the iPad and create real world projects.

While I usually stick to a free app only goal, there are a few that are worth spending some hard earned cash on.  The Windy & Friends app is $2.99 and I wouldn’t flinch at the price because of how interactive it is, and no ads for my kids to click on (which leads to me having to fix it for them, again and again).  I am willing to stretch my rule for Ms. Windy.

GIVEAWAY!

Because I want to share the love of this sweet app for kids, I am giving away a Christmas app bundle including Charlie Brown’s Christmas, a Windy e-card, and Twas the Night Before Christmas.  To enter leave me a comment telling me what your favorite Christmas (or holiday) tradition is.  For a bonus entry, follow me on and leave me a SECOND comment with your pinterest name telling me you followed.

My favorite holiday is new year’s eve! Little prep, lots of party, and no work the next day! A tradition I had for the holiday (prekids) is spending it in a different city each year. I’ve definitely got to come up with something new now that we have two littles around.
