Easy New Year’s Gallery Wall

After my last Christmas post and making almost all my decorations, I decided to keep it simple this time.
This easy New Year’s gallery wall is a quick and fast way to jazz up and bling out your place to ring in the New Year! Welcome 2015!!!

Here’s how I did it.
I gathered some supplies that I had lying around my house. If you don’t have any of this at your house you can find all supplies at your local craft store.

Step 1. For starters, I grabbed two 12×12 sheets of black card stock and I just happened to have a template of the banner lying around. So I turned it upside down, laid on top, and traced it with a pencil.

Step 2. Writing your words. Next I grabbed my gold marker and wrote you the words New Year. I always first write it down and then go back and fill it in according to the size I need to make.

Then on the computer I typed out the words Happy. I used Arial type font, size 470, and made it bold. I printed it and cut out like so.

Then I traced on the back of my glitter card stock.  To show you just how human I am, I included my mistake. When I first started tracing, I forgot to turn backwards so once I cut out, it comes out right.  So, as you can see, my P is facing the wrong way, but all was not lost so I traced my Y over it.  Silly me.

I used a little glue to tack the Happy to the black and white ribbon.

Step #3. Making the tassel.  This is where the fun comes in. Grab some yarn and start by holding an end in your hand, then wrap it until it gets to hard to close your hand so it will be nice and full.  Once it gets full, slide off your hand and leave an end out.  Take your long end and thread it though the middle. Wrap around 2 times and then tie off.  Grab a pair of scissors and cut through the middle and you will end up with a tassel.

Ta-da! You just made a tassel!

Step #4: Bedazzling your balloons.  For this I used my trusty Elmer’s spray glue, a 12 pack of ivory balloons and some sequins. Do one balloon at a time, spray a section with glue, and then sprinkle the sequins over.  I used clear thread, basically like fishing line, to hang from the ceiling.

Here’s one last picture for you.  I added two more tassels just for fun!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you enjoy! Have a very Happy New Year.
