The Best Banana Bread You Will Ever Have

banana bread

Baking season is upon us ladies! And if you know me at all, you know I have taken full advantage. The first thing I have baked this fall was the best darn banana bread you will ever have. I’m talking THE banana bread. The kind you would drive for miles to buy way overpriced. It is really THAT good.

I started with a basic sour cream banana bread and upped the yumminess factor by greasing the loaf pans with butter and dusting them with cinnamon and sugar.  You HAVE to use butter to grease the pans.  Your bread will not only come out the pan more easily than if you used a spray, but the butter makes the crust oh so soft and delicious.  I tossed in some cinnamon chips because I had some and why not?  The result was better than I could have imagined.

The Best Banana Bread You Will Ever Have

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup butter + more for greasing
  • 3 cups white sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 6 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1 (16 ounce) container sour cream
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 tsp baking soda
  • 4 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 cups cinnamon chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees F. Generously grease four 7x3 in loaf pans with butter. Mix 1/4 cup white sugar and 1 tsp ground cinnamon in bowl. Dust loaf pans with sugar/cinnamon (You will likely have some left over, that's okay).
  2. In a large bowl or electric mixer, cream butter and 3 cups sugar. Mix in eggs, mashed bananas, sour cream, vanilla and cinnamon. Mix in salt, baking soda, and flour. Gently stir in cinnamon chips. Divide into pans.
  3. Bake for 1 hour or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean.

You can buy cinnamon chips at The Prepared Pantry.  I don’t think I will ever make a different banana bread recipe for the rest of my life.  Go ahead, try it.  Make my day.
